Dr. David Hughes, Minister at First Baptist Church (Dixie St) , spoke to the Carrollton Kiwanis Club and shared what he learned on his trip to Ukraine.
He said that going to Ukraine transformed him from being an observer to becoming a witness. (An observer watches from afar but a witness has gone, seen, heard, and touched and returns with a powerful story to tell.) He learned that this is not Ukraine's war with Russia. This is Ukraine’s war against Russian aggression. Ukraine was at peace before Russia’s invasion. Ukraine desires peace once more but it must be a just peace that recognizes Russia’s wrong and Ukraine’s right for sovereignty as a free, democratic nation.
