[Editor's note:  please forgive the editorializing, but Friday's program was one of the most inspiring programs that I have ever attended.  Carrollton is very fortunate to have Travis Thomaston and Katie Holley at the helm of the Carrollton Junior High "ship"  !]
Travis Thomaston spoke to his Carrollton Kiwanis Club on Friday, November 4, 2022 in UWG's Hubbard Dining Room.  He spoke of strategies for leading the students to success.

Guests  November 4, 2022
Erin Waters  -  We enjoyed and excellent program by Kiwanian Travis Thomaston, principal of Carrollton Junior High.  We were joined by prospective member Erin Waters, Manager of Wise Crack Chiropractic.  Sponsored by Jenny Ingram, Erin is a Carrollton native, Central High School graduate (where she was the band drum major), and a business major graduate of Georgia State University.  She loves dogs and is a person who "plans well and gets things done."  Despite my introduction, she promises to return!
Invite Guests !
[  Editor's note:   When you bring a guest, please collect contact information.  Thanks to  Matthew Clay for designing the Guest Form that is parked on the Club's website.  We will add friends to the weekly e-bulletin and stay in touch.  ]
Battling Food Insecurity

[Hi All,

Between cash received Friday and pledges to bills, we have raised $370 so far towards the gift card project.

Thanksgiving is less than three weeks away. We would like to invite Kiwanians to think ahead to the upcoming Christmas break for our Carroll County and City Schools. Some of you may know that our county has a very high number of families without the funds to provide enough food for their families. When school is in session, many families are blessed to know their children will have enough healthy food for breakfast & lunch thanks to the free and reduced lunch programs. However, when longer breaks occur families often do not have the means to provide healthy meals or meals at all.

Kiwanis wants to be part of the solution as we’ve done for the last several years. We are asking for donations of $10 gift cards or cash that will be turned into gift cards to local fast food restaurants such as McDonalds, Taco Bell, Chick-Fil-A and other such restaurants. We can also add an amount to your quarterly bill if you don’t have cash with you or will miss the meeting on Friday. These donations will then be disbursed to students via their guidance counselor’s office. We will be sponsoring Central & Carrollton High Schools in December.

Please donate all funds, gift cards or pledges to Clint Backstrom or Jenny Ingram no later than December 2nd. Contact info is below if you have any questions.

Thank you all for your giving hearts!

Clint & Jenny

Note from Blair Lipham:
I'm going to be singing in on November 12th so please include this in the Kiwanis bulletin. It's a fundraising concert that supports one high school senior going into the arts in college. I've attached the flyer to this email.
Tickets are purchased here:
Thanks in advance for your help spreading the word!

Metro Atlanta Founders Day
The Carrollton Kiwanis Club is proud to have sponsored in November 1979 the new club known as the Metro Atlanta Kiwanis Club.  Please contact Richard Dixon or Jenny Ingram on or before November 10, if you would like to attend the Founders Day Celebration detailed below.  This will count as an InterClub.
Here is a photo from one of the many interclub visits.  Since 1979, the Metro Atlanta Club has been represented by three Georgia District Governors:  Lille Robbins, John Holley, and Charles "Chuck" Hood.  (Two Past Governors are in this photo.)  Many members of the Metro Atlanta Club have served in other District-wide roles.

On November 19, 2022, The Metro Atlanta Kiwanis Club will hold its Annual Founder's Day Celebration at the Historic Green Manor Restaurant, 6400 Westbrook Avenue, Union City Georgia. The time of the celebration is 12:00 Noon and the cost is $43.00 per person.  Another fun fact:  Past Carrollton Kiwanis President Susan Duncan's family enjoyed much history in the Green Manor Estate.
The Metro Atlanta Kiwanis Club would be delighted to have you and your club be a part of the celebration. Please consider this communication as an official invitation to the celebration.
Please contact on or before November 10 either Richard Dixon or Jenny Ingram to register for this event.
