You all are probably aware of the pending danger to the Okefenokee swamp posed by a mining operation out of Alabama that is mining titanium oxide at a site very near the swamp. If the mining operation is allowed to expand it could cause irreparable damage to the swamp and it’s ecosystem.
There are many groups in the state of Georgia and even outside our borders that are trying to stop this ecological catastrophe. The Georgia River Network is one of those groups. They have put together a website that explains the importance of protecting the swamp and what we can do as individuals to express our concerns.
Would it be possible to send this link out to club members thru Clubrunner? I know we have several members who have interest in pursuing this effort.
Thanks,
Lacey
