Homebuilder becomes second candidate for District 5 seat

Lowell custom homebuilder Dale Williams will run for the Carroll County District 5 commissioner seat in the 2016 Republican Primary.

Williams becomes the second candidate to announce for the seat currently occupied by Kevin Jackson, who said he will not be seeking re-election. Earlier this month, Whitesburg cattle farmer and general contractor Jeffery Lee Powers said he is running for the position.

Williams said he would like to see the district balance its rural and incorporated areas. He said he is also concerned about the lack of consistent tech services such as high-speed Internet, which many students and business people in the area rely on. Properly marking the “potentially dangerous country” roads is something he’d also like to see done in the area.
