And How About that Margaret Miller ??  !!  GREAT JOB!   Does MC = Master of Ceremonies, --  or Marine Corps ?
 
The Carrollton Kiwanis Art and Music Showcase culminated Sunday night at 7:30 when scholarships were presented to local high school students who competed in art and music juried competitions.  The event was hosted by The Carrollton Center for the Arts.
 
 
 
Music
 
The Trojan Sound Quartet won first place and was presented a scholarship of five hundred dollars to be shared by the four Carrollton High School students:  Landen Jordan (sophomore), Caden Clifton (senior) Abel Akin (senior), and Damien Ruiz-Schelp (sophomore).  His is the son of Past-President Carlos Ruiz.
The Quartet performed Swing Down, Chariot arranged by Andrew J. Thomas.  The referring teacher for the vocal quartet is Ms. Julie Lowry.
 
Edwin Wright, a senior at Bremen High School, won second place and was presented a scholarship of four hundred dollars.  He performed Aria by Eugene Bozza on alto saxophone, accompanied on piano by Ms. Brenda Andrews.  The referring teacher is Mr. Chuck Jingrich.
 
The Olympic Saxophone Quartet won third place and was presented a scholarship of three hundred dollars to be shared by the four Carrollton High School students:  Tyler Clotfelter (junior), Grayson Jones (sophomore), Camren Hardy (senior), and Yuel Ramirez (senior).   The quartet performed Fugue in g-minor by J.S. Bach.   The referring teacher is Dr. Christopher Carr.
 
Scout Jones, a sophomore student at Central-Carroll High School, won fourth place and was presented a scholarship of two hundred dollars for the mezzo-soprano performance of The Sky Above the Roof   by Vaughn Williams, accompanied on piano by Ms. Ruthie Phillips, her referring teacher.
 
Ellis Grayson Esslinger, a freshman at Carrollton High School, won fifth place and was presented a scholarship of one hundred dollars for the performance of Rain Dance by Gomez and Rife.  The referring teacher is Dr. Christopher Carr.

Five local high school students received scholarships in the Kiwanis Art & Music Showcase on February 8, 2026.
 
Abigail Chihia, senior at Bowdon High School, was presented a scholarship of five hundred dollars for her best-in-show painting, Famlly Refections.  The referring teacher is Ms. Stephanie Norton.
 
Paola Nunez Rosendo, senior at Central-Carroll High School, was presented a scholarship of four hundred dollars for her first place pedestal art Wig Industry.  The referring teacher is Ms. Tuesdee Lambert,
 
Cloe Robertson, junior at Villa Rica High School, was presented a scholarship of three hundred dollars for her second place painting Intertwined, The referring teacher is Mr. Carl Jordan.
 
Genesis Rivera, senior at Central-Carroll High School, was presented a scholarship of two hundred dollars for her third place painting World Colonialism.  The referring teacher is Ms. Tuesdee Lambert. 
 
Imani Jackson, senior at Villa Rica High School, was presented a scholarship of one hundred dollars for her fourth place painting Breaking News.  The referring teacher is Mr. Carl Jordan.
Two pieces of art received honorable mention and are also eligible to compete in the Georgia District Show in Macon Georgia to represent grade levels.   Jerrico Hardy, sophomore at Bowdon High School, was recognized with honorable mention for painting Lil’ Bro.  The referring teacher is Mr. Carl Jordon.
 
Calen Robinson, freshman at Bowdon High School, was recognized with honorable mention for painting Historic Waterfall.  The referring teacher is Ms. Stephanie Norton.
