The Kiwanis Club of Carrollton owes a great deal to Roy's organizational and follow-up skills. During the 2000-2001 year, he was director for club meetings and membership. Due to his "One in '01" campaign, TWENTY-SEVEN new members joined the club, including three future presidents: Greg Davis, Randy Miller, and Mike Renfrow. Roy was recognized then as "Kiwanian of the Year." The following year, Roy was responsible for securing programs. A large portion of those were office-holders, candidates, and presentations with a history theme. In 2002, Roy Bogue was in charge of the Kiwanis Bowl. He applied the same organizational skills as in the membership campaign and gained ninety-two volunteers. He carefully documented what worked and what didn't so as to guide future Bowl chairpersons. When he was club president during the 2003-2004 year, a raffle was added to the Bowl, Kiwanis donated a library to the county jail, a Key Club was stared at Oak Mountain, and K-Kids began at Carrollton Elementary. Appropriately, Roy received the Hixson Award in 2005.
