We had three members of our club attend the Georgia District of Kiwanis Fall Conference at Kennesaw State University this past weekend (10/6/07). Dan Lewis conducted a training session on the District Art & Talent Showcase while Randy Miller and Mike Renfrow got caught up-to-date on club requirements and goals of the District. Governor Mick Maguire presented the "State of the District" that outlined the District Goals as well as provided an update on finance and membership. This past year, under the leadership of Governor Dewey Smith, District finances made a rebound and it begins this fiscal year in very good shape. District membership, however is down. For example, in 1995 we had 10,148 members and at present we only have 8,237. In 2001 there were 191 Kiwanis Clubs in Georgia and currently there are only 174. You will get a chance to meet Kiwanis Governor Mick Maguire and future Kiwanis Governor Nancy Walden at our club meeting on October 19th as we celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Kiwanis Club of Carrollton. Please make plans to attend.
