Bobby Holmes was Kiwanis President during 1967. Programs that year included a conversation with Sen. Herman Talmadge in Washington via telephone, a film about the then-new Atlanta Falcons, and a talk by West Georgia College President James Boyd on ways academic extension promoted economic growth. The big fund-raiser that year was Radio Day which brought in $1,700 through ad sales.  Sponsoring a Teen Club was the main service activity. The Club also donated $200 toward pre-Bowl midget football, supported Dairy Day and the Fat Stock Show, and collected old magazines for the Peace Corps to distribute. The Club made Sen. Lamar Plunkett an honorary member. Those small steps nearly a half-century ago helped to build the Carrollton Kiwanis Club into what it is today.
