Lincoln DeVillier was just as committed to community service as he was to serving his country.

When the history of the Carrollton Kiwanis Club is completed, everyone will be astonished at the contributions of the Club to public health. One area where Lincoln played a key role was the transporting of cancer patients from Carrollton to Atlanta for treatment. During the 1985-1986 year, Lincoln personally drove 3,530 miles doing that for which he was named Humanitarian of the Year. (In the previous year, he had also driven 2,800 miles!) Club members today associate Fred Richards with the nursing home beauty pageants but Lincoln led that project earlier. Many of us remember that, even after his retirement, Lincoln tended the popcorn machine for Kiwanis Bowl concession sales. He always found a useful service to perform.
