Carrollton Kiwanis and Public Recreation:

1948: Club sponsors the formation of small artificial lake on college campus for youth day camp

1949: Kiwanis assumes responsibility for lighting city high school football field

1950: Club sells tickets for college football games in first football era

1951: Kiwanis basketball team plays VFW team to raise funds for a youth camp

Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Club purchases swimming tickets for 20 children to use city pool

1952: Kiwanis team participates in county men's softball league

1953: Club sponsors a "field day" for 1,000 school children on college athletic field

1954: Another field day-- for 1,500; club offers Carrollton's first bike rodeo

1955: First horse show-- 100 horses and 1,000 spectators--eliminates club debt

1956: Second horse show funds scholarships
