The oil pastel titled "Keny Arkana" painted by Cammie Armstrong, eleventh grader at Carrollton High School, won "Best in Show"  and a five hundred dollar scholarship in the juried Kiwanis Art and Music Showcase on Saturday, February 12.  Thanks to a grant from the Carroll EMC Foundation and Kiwanis Foundation, three thousand dollars in scholarships were awarded at the showcase to talented high school artists and musicians.
 
The mixed media entry titled "Peach Pits" by Rebecca Hutcheson, Senior at Carrollton High School, won First Place and a four hundred dollar scholarship.
 
The pencil sketch titled "Little Me" by Ana Martinez, eleventh grader at Carrollton High School, won Second Place, and a three hundred dollar scholarship.
 
The mixed media entry titled "Carry Your Burdens With Pride"  by Savannah Ikhmais, eleventh grader at Mt. Zion High School, won Third Place, and a two hundred dollar scholarship.
 
The digital entry titled "You Take My Heart" by Samantha Schenck, senior at Cental High School, won Fourth Place and a one hundred dollar scholarship.
 
Five pieces of art were awarded honorable mention by the judges and the students were recognized:  Kaitlyn Bradley and Leah Robbins from Central High School, Becca Harris from Oak Mountain Academy, and Kristin Rush and Victoria McGuire from Mt. Zion High School.
