The Kiwanis Club of Carrollton met on January 23, 2026, at the University of West Georgia's Hubbard Dining Room in West Commons. Our club had the opportunity to host Jason Carmichael, Director of Athletics, for our own University of West Georgia. Jason provided an update on the impressive standing of UWG since becoming a contender in Division 1 / Atlantic Sun Conference (FCS). Jason introduced the new football head coach, Steve Englehart, along with providing updates on UWG's competitiveness in basketball, baseball, and golf; and the continuing national championship cheerleading dynasty! We enjoyed the program and learning about the overall growth of UWG - total enrollment is up 11.7% and dual enrollment is up 34% from the year prior. Go West! Go Wolves!
Steve Englehart - the new head Football Coach at UWG. He is from Terre Haute, Indiana and graduated from Indiana State . He and his wife Carrie have thee kids: Caden, Ty, and Lila. This is his fourth head coaching stop.
Mike Wall - Serving UWG for Fellowship of Christian Athletes for eleven years. Mike and his wife Deana have two kids: Ansley and Caleb.
An invitation was sent via e-mail to members of the Carrollton Kiwanis Club , to register for the meeting on February 6.
There are two things you need to do:
1) Invite guests
2) clink on the link in the invitation e-mail to register for lunch for you and guests.
(works best in that order)
Follow through to "save" or "confirm".
Since we're meeting downstairs, it's not "all you can eat buffet."
The deadline for online registration is January 29. That allows time to confirm guests and complete the food registration. Officers must call in the number of meals one week prior to the February meeting.
E-mail neil_weathington@bellsouth.net or text (770) 328-3168 on or before Jan 28 with questions, or if you need help registering yourself and/or a guest .
Thank you!
David Blanton will provide the program for the lunch meeting on Friday, February 6.
He is Executive Producer and host of Realtree Outdoors and Realtree RoadTrips
on Outdoor Channel and Monster Bucks TV on Sportsman Channel.
