Allyson Tarpley - The SPARK Program
Allyson Tarpley coordinated an update of the SPARK program for the Carrollton Kiwanis Club on Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Courtyard Marriott.
Allyson is a psychology major at UWG and assists with the SPARK program.  She invited the creator of the program, Dr Tom Peterson, to assist with the presentation.

Carri Tarpley  -  
Carrie Tarpley joined us to hear a deeply moving program by Dr. Tom Peterson, a UWG Professor of Education and the founder of the SPARK Mentoring program.  Carrie is the mother of Allyson Tarpley, UWG student and graduate assistant to Dr. Peterson.  Carrie works at Southwire, home-schooled her two children for 12 years, and served on mission trips to Ghana, West Africa.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Chyna Smith -
We were also blessed with a visit from Chyna Smith, the older sister of Ray Smith, one of the young men in the SPARK program.  Chryna is training to be a paramedic.

Shane Davis - Kiwanis Induction
The newest member of the Carrollton Kiwanis Club was welcomed by membership Chair Joey Key.   Shane Davis is sponsored by Terry Langley.   Shane is owner and operator of Best Bonding.  He and his wife have five children.  Shane has an enlightened approach to the bonding business by including an emphasis on social services, helping persons access 
rehab, and assisting persons to acquire housing.

Kiwanis Art and Music Showcase 2021

Applications must be “received”  by Monday,  February 1, 2021.  Please return only the last page of the application; one page per student (excluding accompanists)  preferably edited (MS Word) by replacing blanks with requested data; then print, sign, scan, and return via e-mail.  Hey, So I’m old school:   Send scanned signed document via e-mail.
 
Thanks for getting this in the hands of your best music students.  The Carrollton Kiwanis Club is currently accepting applications for participants to compete for scholarships in the juried music competition to be held at the Carrollton Center for the Arts on February 14, 2021.  Thanks to sponsors,  a total of three thousand dollars in scholarships will be awarded to art and music students.  Winners will be eligible and must agree to be available to advance to the State competition  in Gainesville, Georgia on April 24, where a total of $ 15,000 in scholarships will be awarded by the Georgia  District Kiwanis Foundation.

He is scheduled to receive the Covid-19 vacine on Tuesday, January 5.
