Karen Wild and Nancy Smith visited and provided the program for the Carrollton Kiwanis Club on July 22, 2022 in the Hubbard Dining Room. The Ferst Readers Organization represents childhood reading and literacy. The Kiwanis Foundation supports Ferst Readers with a donation.
Stand-out take-a ways: If you support literacy why can't you spell "first". Answer: It is named from the last name of the founder. Robin Ferst founded the foundation in 1999. History
"Children learn to read in the first three grades. From the third grade and on, children read to learn."

Due to the rising cost of food and the increased cost of catered meals, the board of officers and directors has been forced to increase the per-meal calculation to $ 16.00 per meal in the next quarter billing. Thank you for your understanding. A few members are enjoying the "full membership" billing status; continuation at the current price is not sustainable and options are currently under board study for a full membership that is sustainable and provides advantages for members. To quote Milton Friedman, "there is no free lunch."
The Carrollton Kiwanis Club will meet in Z6 until further notice. We will share the hall with summer camps for the next few weeks. Normal operations resume August 12 when UWG students return.
Thanks to Kiwanis volunteers who helped with the meal for the Circles of West Georgia !
Happy Friday Kiwanians!
Tuesday, July 19, our club hosted their annual service project at Circles of West Georgia!
Circles of West Georgia is a chapter of the national organization Circles USA. Circles of West Georgia is a community-driven conduit consisting of Leaders and Allies; working together to defeat poverty and promote prosperity through long-term education and social support.
Thank you, Kiwanis members, Cathy Farley, Mark Herring, Derick Newton, Linda Robles, and Dale Williams, along with Chyna Farley: The Olive Garden Representative and Circles Volunteer, for your help with serving nearly 20 women and children. Kiwanian Mayor Pro Tem, J. Elaine Bridges, was also there serving as an Ally.
Kiwanians, your presence meant the world to them all. Elayne Brown, the Circles Coordinator, is always grateful to the Carrollton Kiwanis Club.
If you missed it this year, there's always next year.
