Chuck Watkins - Lumber Industry
Chuck Watkins spoke to the Carrollton Kiwanis Club on Friday, February 7, 2020 in the Hubbard Dining Room on the Campus of the University of West Georgia.  Mr. Watkins informed the club of building trends of using wood in contruction, and marketing trends of supply and demand.

The music competition
The Carrollton Kiwanis Foundation awarded $ 1,500 in scholarships to winners in the music competition on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Carrollton's Center for the Arts.

First place in music was awarded to pianist Justin Shin.   He played Ètude  (Opus 25, No. 12) by Frédéric François Chopin.   Justin is an eleventh grader at Bremen High School.  He was awarded a scholarship of five hundred dollars.

Second place in music was awarded to pianist James Cullison.  He played Tarantella in A Minor by Albert Pieczonka.  James is a sophomore at Bremen High School.  He was awarded a scholarship of four hundred dollars.
 
Third place in music was awarded to trombonist Kenji Trumble.  He played Morceau Symphonique (Opus 88) by Alexandre Guilmant, and was accompanied by Yoshimi Trumble on piano.   Kenji is a senior at Central High School.   He was awarded a scholarship of three hundred dollars.
 
Fourth place in music was awarded to pianist Camille Jennings.  She played Alla Tarantella  (Opus 39, No .2) by Edward MacDowell.   Camille is a home schooled Junior.  She was awarded a scholarship of two hundred dollars.
 
Fifth place in music was awarded to Soprano Victoria Ocampo.  She sang O mio babbino caro by Giacomo Puccini, and was accompanied on piano by Brenda Sue Holcombe.   Victoria is a junior at Carrollton High School.  She was awarded a scholarship of one hundred dollars.

Art Winners 2020
The Carrollton Kiwanis Foundation awarded $ 1,500 in scholarships in the art competition on Sunday, February 9, 2020.

The Best in Show award and five hundred dollar scholarship went to Emmanuel Ramos, junior at Villa Rica High School, for his charcoal drawing titled Legacy.

Isabella Marlow, senior at Mt. Zion High School, won First Place and was awarded a $ 400 scholarship for her photography titled Shania.
 
 
Emma Guthrie, freshman at Villa Rica High School, won Second Place and was awarded a $ 300 scholarship for her watercolor and ink drawing titled The Stairwell.
 
 
Karlee Wyatt, senior at Bowdon High School, won Third Place and was awarded $ 200 scholarship for her charcoal drawing entitled Full Steam Ahead.
 
 
Jacey Singleton, sophomore at Temple High School, won Fourth Place and was awarded a $ 100 scholarship for watercolor drawing titled Noodles.
 
 
Jared Arredondo, Junior at Villa Rica High School, was presented Honorable Mention for his colored pencil drawing titled Sunflower.

Nathaniel Smith  -  Richard Dixon invited prospective member Nathaniel Smith, local attorney and candidate for State Court Judge.  Nathaniel was a member of our club years ago when he was called to active duty in the war on terrorism.  He's married and has three sons.  Accompanying Nathaniel was his Legal Assistant, Ann Willett.  We hope she returns as well
 
 
  Steve Fuller  -  Johnny Tanner brought prospective member and District Four Commissioner Steve Fuller.  Steve is known for many things, among them:  being a retired Navy veteran of 22 years, a retired educator (17 years), and the owner/operator of Swampfox Vineyards.
