September 18, 2026: Joey Key, Kiwanis President; Dr. Mark Albertus, Superintendent; and Dr. Ryan McKinnon, Principal of CELC.
The Kiwanis Club of Carrollton met on September 18, 2026, at the at the University of West Georgia's Hubbard Dining Room in West Commons. Our club had the opportunity to host Dr. Mark Albertus, Superintendent of Carrollton City Schools, and Dr. Ryan McKinnon, future Principal for the Carrollton Early Learning Center (CELC). It was exciting to learn about the purchase of 121 acres as the future home of the CELC which will double the property footprint of the current city school system. The literacy and socialization focus of this innovative, round structure will be built with intentionality, cutting edge technology, safety priorities, and conduciveness for learning. The CELC will expand the current Pre-K program to include 3-year-old children. Structural highlights include learning "pods" and indoor/outdoor playgrounds for grooming up-and-coming Trojans!

Hi Jennifer,
Joey mentioned that you are the campus contact for the Kiwanis Club. I wanted to reach out regarding their weekly visits to campus and to address their concerns about receiving parking citations while on site.
As you may know, UWG recently implemented new parking regulations that require all vehicles on campus to be registered and prohibit back-in or pull-through parking. Since Kiwanis has been a valued part of our campus community for many years, I want to ensure members can easily comply with these requirements by offering virtual visitor parking passes.
To streamline the process, I have created a visitor parking registration form: Kiwanis Member Vehicle Registration. Would you be able to share it with the group so that all members have the opportunity to register?
Once registered, we will create a virtual visitor pass valid through July 31, 2027. I will do my best to send a reminder next year for them to renew their registration. Members will still need to follow all campus parking regulations, including proper parking orientation, and will be responsible for updating their vehicle information if it changes.
