District Convention 2019 - Augusta

Congratulations Georgia Carter !

Georgia Carter was surprised when presented the Henry C. Heinz Award by her Carrollton Kiwanis Club on Saturday night at the Governor's Banquet. Georgia has just completed her three year term as Trustee in the Georgia District Kiwanis Foundation, and has been selected to enter rotation as President-Elect of the Foundation. The Heinz Award is the most appropriate way to honor her service for the Georgia District Kiwanis Foundation, as the money directly supports the Foundation.

Delegate Session: The Carrollton Kiwanis Club was represented by four voting delegates.

(An effort to make it easier to recruit Lt. Governors in smaller divisions with smaller clubs was defeated in the delegate session on Saturday. The eligibility prerequisites for Lt. Governor will not change as proposed.)

The Carrollton Kiwanis Club received three "third place" awards in the marketing competition for entries: Membership Tri-fold, 5-K Race Brochure, and Scrapbook.

Mark your Calendars and plan to attend Kiwanis Conventions in 2020.

The Georgia District Convention will meet in Savannah, and the Kiwanis International Convention will meet in Indianapolis Indiana.

The students in UWG Circle K have worked in concession stands and received a check from the Carrollton Kiwanis Foundation on August 16, 2019 in appreciation of their efforts.

We enjoyed the visit of three members of UWG's Circle K: Brian Stewart, Timothy Van Johnson, and Nijoel Greene. Brian is a junior Philosophy major and Vice President of Circle K; Timothy is a Health & Community Wellness major and is Circle K Social Media and Bulletin Editor; and Nijoel, a sophomore and Mass Comm major, is Circle K. President.

Dr. Chapman Rackaway and Kiwanis President Terry Langley presented Circle K with a check for $1700.

Stuart Yahm told another outstanding joke that had people falling out of their chairs with laughter.

Dr. Michael Hester, UWG Director of Debate and the Coordinator of the African-American Male Initiative dropped by for a brief visit. Interim UWG President Dr. Micheal Crafton was impressed that Hester made a dramatic appearance at the meeting.
