Our speaker this week was Nate Masters, a teacher at Carrollton High School and the defensive coordinator for the football team. Nate gave a preview of the upcoming season, mentioning the opening game in Rome on August 22. He also shared the news that of the 29 graduating seniors on the team this year, 24 would be attending and playing football at such schools as the Universities of Georgia, Colorado, Alabama, and West Georgia.
The Carrollton Kiwanis Foundation presented a donation of $5,000.00 to Mrs. Colleen Jones, Principal of the Central Middle School, at our meeting on Friday, May 8, 2026. Mrs Jones was representing the Central School Cluster made up of five local schools….Whitesburg Elementary, Roopville Elementary, Central Elementary, Central Middle School, and Central High School. These funds are designated to provide assistance so that students with financial needs will be able to participate in school field trips. To date, our Kiwanis Club has contributed $17,500 to these schools.

On Friday, May 8, 2026, the Carrollton Kiwanis Club’s Foundation presented a $1,000 scholarship to 2026 Carrollton High School graduating Senior, Venkata Koppireddy. This annual scholarship is presented to a graduating Senior who has served in his/her respective high school Key Club organization within our local community. Mr Koppireddy was selected from a number of applicants and is representative of the academic excellence, leadership qualities, and community service which Key Club members embrace. Venkata will be attending Mercer University to study Bioengineering with an ultimate goal of pursuing a career as a Cardiologist.
