The Kiwanis Club of Carrollton met on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the University of West Georgia, in the Hubbard Dining Room. Our club had the pleasure to learn about the ongoing life achievements of Margaret Miller and her continuing journey of excellence. Margaret shared highlights of her life as a young child in Carrollton - blessed with an active, loving family - to her ultimate rise to Lt. Colonel after 36 years and holding 11 ranks. Margaret's positive energy, honoring faith, and stellar achievements invigorated the room. As a fellow Kiwanian, we are fortunate to have her as our own.

The Kiwanis Club of Carrollton met on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the University of West Georgia, in the Hubbard Dining Room. Our club had the pleasure to listen and learn about pivotal updates from Kathy Parsons, Director of Missions for Impact West Georgia, and as our own Kiwanian member. Kathy serves as a life-altering, non-profit leader of the faith-based Impact West Georgia organization. She shared photos of impact showcasing the hard work and now culmination of the new, beautiful shelter for those in need. The shelter is one of several transformational programs designed to empower vulnerable individuals in the challenges of homelessness, illiteracy, and access to healthcare - all of which uplift our community and bless others.

You all are probably aware of the pending danger to the Okefenokee swamp posed by a mining operation out of Alabama that is mining titanium oxide at a site very near the swamp. If the mining operation is allowed to expand it could cause irreparable damage to the swamp and it’s ecosystem.
There are many groups in the state of Georgia and even outside our borders that are trying to stop this ecological catastrophe. The Georgia River Network is one of those groups. They have put together a website that explains the importance of protecting the swamp and what we can do as individuals to express our concerns.
Would it be possible to send this link out to club members thru Clubrunner? I know we have several members who have interest in pursuing this effort.
Thanks,
Lacey
