V.P. Mike Dugan welcomes Richard Newell to the Carrollton Kiwanis Club.

Richard Newell, local entrepeneur and owner of BlueWater Ropes in Carrollton,  talked to the Carrollton Kiwanis Club about the specialized ropes that he manufactures and markets to mountain climbers, spelunkers, military, firefighters, and others.   One of his customers using his products made the news last week ; Navy Seal Team Six.  More and more customers are asking for longer and longer seamless ropes.  He has many orders for seamless ropes of length 1,500 to 3,000 feet long.

Newell has had to travel the globe in search of machines that will weave nylon into long seamless strands of rope.  He has recently attended several wire shows in search of larger reels on which long rope can be wound.  BlueWater has developed a process to terminate rope into loops for quicker attachment.

It was encouraging to hear of manufacturing that is occurring in Carrollton and not exported overseas.
