Music Competition
 
 
Albert Shin, Senior at Bremen High School, won first place and was awarded a scholarship of five hundred dollars in the music competition for his violin performance of Praeludium and Allegro by Fritz Kreisler.  He was accompanied on piano by his younger sister Yujean Shin;  in the seventh grade at Bremen.   Albert will represent the Carrollton Kiwanis Club in the Georgia (District) finals in Leesburg, Georgia on April 28, 2018.
 
Justin Shin, Freshman at Bremen High School, won second place and was awarded a scholarship of four hundred dollars in the music competition for his piano performance of Revolutionary Etude, Opus 10, No. 12 by Chopin.
 
Cameron Applegate, Senior at Temple High School, won third place and was awarded a scholarship of three hundred dollars in the music competition for her unaccompanied flute performance of Ah, vous dirai-je mamam; (variations on a French children’s song) arranged by Charles Henry Nicholson.
 
Adrian Galbraith, Sophomore at Temple High School, won fourth place and was awarded a scholarship of two hundred dollars in the music competition for his flute performance of Gigue by Jean-Marie Leclair, l’aine (arranged by Georges Barrere).  He was accompanied on piano by Elisa Lyle.
 
Rachel Skinner, Junior at Carrollton High School, won fifth place and was awarded a scholarship of one hundred dollars in the music competition for her soprano performance of Widmung by Robert Schumann.   She was accompanied on piano by Brenda Sue Holcombe.
 
A total of eighteen acts competed for scholarships in the juried music competition at the Carrollton Center for the Arts on Sunday night, February 11, 2018, where a total of $ 1,500 were awarded to high school musicians.
